a very mama elephant christmas card

today i have a card i made (half last night and half this morning!) for the current CASE study challenge! the inspiration card is stunning!!

i was totally drawn to the big splashes of color against the chevron background! so cool, right? yeah, and you know me, as beautiful as those soft pinks and blues are on the inspiration card (and they are!) i had to go bold! i'm much more comforatable with bold colors! lol! :)

so anyway, here's my take on the inspiration card (created by the incredible Keisha Campbell - hello!)

first i used that awesome chevron pattern and then layered a piece of polka dotted vellum on top (because apparently you can't have too many patterns going on at once! lol). after stitching on the vellum (check out that zig zag stitch - first time attempting that on my sewing machine - hooked!! hooked i say!), i heat embossed the sentiment in white.
all of the stamps are mama elephant; the sentiment is from 'merry greetings' stamp set and the images are from the 'cozy christmas' stamp set. LOOOOOOVE them both! i can't say that enough - the greetings are GORGEOUS and unique and totally envoke the feeling of christmas! love them!!

so i colored the images with copics and then popped up the tree for some dimension. LOVE that burst of lime green over the black and white chevron! you may have noticed that sparkly star? it's been glittered with the wink of stella pen and then i added glossy accents over that. LOVE that look!! you'll be seeling more of that double accented action. count on that! :)

so that's it!
time to (hopefully) get more inky! :)
enjoy!

I LOVE that you made this your own-- using bold colors instead of the soft color palette! LOVE that you added a vellum polkadot piece on top of the chevrons-- you are right! There can never EVER be too many patterns on one creation:) FAB JOB!!! LOVE this!
